DILIGENCE

Bible lessons on Diligence

Religiously

Norman Sewell

"Religiously" refers to an action done "with consistent and conscientious regularity."  Some exercise religiously, some watch their favorite show religiously.  What about serving God religiously?

I Wish You Enough

Norman Sewell

Jesus taught that life is more than things, possessions.  In this lesson we consider covetousness, and contentment, in having enough and being satisfied.

ASSEMBLING

Norman Sewell

There seems to be a trend in which some Christians are attending periods of worship and study less and less. In this study we will show that early Christians met together regularly and why.  What a shame when we have much more interest in activities of the world than growing closer to God.

New Heavens & Earth

Norman Sewell

We live in times of violence and immorality and many despair, but God has promised that when this earth is burned up there will be new heavens and a new earth where righteousness dwells.  This promise gives us great hope to look beyond the troubling times we live in.

Love One Another

Norman Sewell

Jesus said that the second greatest commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself.  He told the disciples that we are to love one another as He has loved us.  But there is danger that we may love with our words but not with our deeds.

Sincere But Wrong

Norman Sewell

Have you heard someoone say that it doesn't matter what you believe as long as you're sincere?  Is sincerity enough? How can we know for sure?  If you're really sincere, how will you react when you discover you're wrong?

Sexual Immorality

Norman Sewell

Our world has gone mad with pursuit of sexual pleasure in every form.  While we can't control the actions of others it is imperitive that we understand what God says is proper sexually, and what is sin that will cost our souls.  We will see God's plan from the beginning, and His pronouncement of doom for sinners.

The Example We Set

Norman Sewell

Timothy's mother & grandmother set an example of faith before him, leading him to believe and obey.  What example are setting for our children, especially in spiritual things?  Are we showing them that we are serious about following Jesus and going to heaven?

Stand In Your Place

Norman Sewell

Gideon and the 300 men were successful because of God's power, and because each man stood in his place and did his work.  God expects the same from His people today, to do your part in the kingdom.

Disciples Indeed

Norman Sewell

Many seem to have a "minimal" attitude toward discipleship.  In this lesson we consider how serious it is to be a follower of Jesus.

Godliness

Norman Sewell

Paul wrote to Timothy to exercise himself to godliness, and that it was profitable for life now as well as the life to come.  He also told Timothy to pursue godliness.  What is the alternative?  What will happen to the ungodly?

Procrastination

Norman Sewell

A study of our tendency to put off really important things, like our salvation.

Arm Yourselves

Norman Sewell

Because Christians have a powerful enemy it is necessary to learn how to protect ourselves.

Lay Hold On Eternal Life

Norman Sewell

God called us to life through Christ, to be washed from our sins and made alive again. However, He instructs us to pursue righteousness and lay hold on eternal life.

More Than Conquerors

Norman Sewell

In spite of suffering and trials God gives us the hope of heaven and shows us that through all of this we are more than conquerors.  If God is for us, who can be against us.

Who Am I?

Norman Sewell

I am a child of God, a member of His family.  But sometimes I forget who I am and how I should act as one of His beloved children.

A Chosen Generation

Norman Sewell

Christians are God's special people, a chosen generation, a royal priesthood.  This lesson stresses that special relationship and the obligations that go with it.

The Snare Of The Devil

Norman Sewell

We need to know our enemy and his tactics in order to protect ourselves and defeat him.

Practicing Righteousness

Norman Sewell

God is righteous and His word is righteousness and He loves righteousness.  We are made righteous through Jesus' blood, but we must do righteousness as well.

Set Your Mind

Norman Sewell

Many need an attitude adjustment.  Some have set their mind on the flesh, some on spiritual things.  This lesson points us toward having the mind of Christ.

Abiding In Christ

Norman Sewell

There is more to being a Christian that just our initial obedience putting us into Christ.  We must abide in Him, faithful until death.  This study considers the Vine and the branches.

Redeem The Time

Norman Sewell

We often convince ourselves (like the old song says) that there is "Time Enough Yet."  But is there really?  The Scriptures tell us that our lives are like a vapor, a breath, a shadow all of which pass away quickly.  God calls upon us to take advantage of the time we have, to redeem the time and live godly lives before Him through Jesus.
